Create a Library Legacy

About Us - Friends Foundation CCPL

Help strengthen our library for future generations with Legacy Giving.

A legacy gift is any deferred gift intended to benefit the future of the Cecil County Public Library and all its branches. There is a variety of long-term giving opportunities available, but the four most effective and commonly used methods are listed on this page.

Charitable Bequests

Leave a gift to the Friends Foundation in your will! You can create a gift today that will only be received when your estate is settled. You can bequeath a variety of assets, including cash or stocks/securities. You can specify a percentage of the asset or dollar amount.

Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs)

You can designate the Friends Foundation as a full or partial beneficiary on your retirement account(s) (IRAs, 401k, 403b, etc) by designating the Friends Foundation of CCPL as a beneficiary. Consult your financial advisor for more information.

Life Insurance

Designate Friends Foundation of CCPL as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy. Again, you can specify a percentage or dollar amount. You can also transfer the policy outright.

Endowment

Gifts of $100,000 or more may be designated by the donor as endowed funds. This means that only the interest may be distributed to CCPL. The initial gift remains permanently restricted.

Let's Discuss these Opportunities!

Library Legacy Circle

Become a Legacy Member

The Friends Foundation of the Cecil County Public Library is establishing a Library Legacy Circle to honor and thank those who create a legacy gift in their estate plans. There are many ways to do this. Some have created a future gift in their will or living trust, while others have named us as a beneficiary of an IRA or bank account, or life insurance policy. A variety of options exist.

Most people like to preserve their full control over their assets during life, protecting against future uncertainties. Others may choose to maximize any tax and financial benefits that could result from their philanthropy. It’s all a matter of priority.

In addition, with estate planning, people typically prioritize their family and loved ones first, only providing for the Friends Foundation (to benefit Cecil County Public Library) after those needs are met. There is flexibility in this planning to help you accomplish all your wishes.

Sharing your Legacy

Some people share their intentions with us, to help with our long-term planning and to serve as an inspiration to others to make similar legacy gifts. Each legacy gift, large or small, helps strengthen our Library for future generations.

Please let us know when you have created an estate gift. We would love to include you as a member of the Library Legacy Circle. If you are interested, please consider sending a testimonial or a few lines about why you support the Foundation and the future of Cecil County Public Library.

Please note, any donations may also remain anonymous. All inquiries are held in strict confidence. There will never be any expectation or obligation to complete a gift.
